BASIC MANUAL HANDLING COURSE
Who should attend?
All staff engaged in “Manual Handling”
Manual Handling training is a legal requirement under current and pending legislation.
This training requirement also covers office staff, not just people that “lift”
Training session follows current Health & Safety Authority guidelines.
On Completion of this programme participants will be able to:

List duties and responsibilities under Health & Safety Legislation.

Identify possible dangerous situations and avoid them.

Carry out safe lifting techniques.

Instructing Manual Handling Refresher Training
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
QQI Level 6 6N0233
This training programme facilitates learners to achieve the Level 6 Special Purpose Certificate in Manual Handling Instruction (6S0242) comprising the Level 6 Component Certificate Instructing Manual Handling (6N0233)
All Instructors that provide Manual Handling Training MUST now be registered with QQI irrespective of expiry dates or their original certificates.
This RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) programme is designed for previously qualified Manual Handling Instructors that have not as yet registered with QQI
On completion of the course participants will be able to:

Plan, prepare, and present Manual Handling Training sessions

Carry out Manual Handling assessments
-
Issue certificates to trainees
-
Train to current QQI & Health & Safety Authority guidelines and standards.
All learners must apply to be considered for acceptance on the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) programme, there are strict guidelines as to who can be accepted on the RPL programme and unsuccessful learners will have to complete the full programme and be registered with QQI, if they wish to continue to provide Manual Handling Training.
Methods of Assessment
There are three elements of assessments for all learners, they are:

Assignment
-
Theoretical
-
Skills (Practical & Presentations)
Completed assignments must be returned within 28 days of completion of programme. There is no extension to this time frame under any circumstances.
As this course is heavily dependent on presentation skills candidates should be carefully selected before being sent on the course.
Because of the Legal and Medical elements of the course a very good understanding of the English language both written and spoken is necessary for all learners.
MANUAL HANDLING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
*QQI LEVEL 6
This training programme facilitates learners to achieve the Level 6 Special Purpose Certificate in Manual Handling Instruction (6S0242) comprising the Level 6 Component Certificate Instructing Manual Handling (6N0233)
This course is ideal for companies that may require their own on-site QQI Registered Manual Handling Instructor.
On completion of the course participants will be able to:

Plan, prepare, and present Manual Handling Training sessions

Issue certificates to trainees

Train to current QQI & Health & Safety Authority guidelines and standards.

Methods of training
The course is based on classroom methods and practical lessons. Participants are continuously assessed on their level of knowledge and ability in both theory and practical instruction, with final written and practical assessments on the last day.
