Statement of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) in relation to transition to Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) First Aid Response (FAR) training standard 7th June 2018
The transition to PHECC FAR is now complete. Since the 1st June 2018, the HSA only recognises the PHECC FAR standard as meeting the needs of occupational first aid in workplaces. PHECC has already approved a large number of organisations as PHECC FAR Recognised Institutions (RIs). The current list of RIs can be found at www.phecit.ie. Additional applications are currently being processed. Existing OFA instructors who have not already done so should now apply to the RIs approved to provide FAR Instructor to become a PHECC FAR instructor by Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Individuals wishing to become instructors for the first time should familiarise themselves with PHECC FAR Instructor requirements at www.phecit.ie. PHECC recently announced an increased instructor/learner ratio from 1:6 to 1:8 and a 30 day grace period.
Programme duration:
- 3 Days for new participants.
- 2 Days for previously qualified and registered participants. (That are within the 30 day grace period).
